What does the handle 'Braydhisattva' mean? It's a reference to the bodhisattvas of Mahayana Buddhism, who are able to reach nirvana but delay doing so out of compassion in order to help save suffering beings.
One of my favourite authors, Joseph Campbell, once said: "The idea of the Bodhisattva is the one who out of realization of transcendence participates in the world. The imitation of Christ is joyful participation in the sorrows of the world."
Now, I want to make it clear that I'm in no way comparing myself to a bodhisattva or Christ. I don't have the hubris to think I can reach nirvana at will. I'm far from perfect, and I've made countless mistakes in my life. However, I strongly believe that it's important to have an ideal to strive towards, a role model. I see no more perfect role model than one who fully participates in the world, despite all of its suffering, with the intention of saving others from their anguish. I want to inspire people to see the beauty in the world and bear their cross, just as I've been inspired by the work of many great people throughout history.
This cross is the journey of self-improvement, learning, and bettering yourself—fully participating in the world. This involves attempting to learn various creative and vocational skills, working on physical fitness, voracious reading, among other things.
I want to help people on their paths as much as I can, through sharing the knowledge I've gained and continuing to grow on my own journey. While doing things that bring me passion and make me laugh.
I hope you'll join me!
